Nite Moves Demo is a collection of drawings made during nighttime walks across the Netherlands. Carrying only paper and graphite, we set out on regular night walks drawing in a wide range of locations: industrial areas, islands, parks, residential neighborhoods, city streets, canals, and the spaces in between. These walks became a way of observing places after dark.

We are drawn to the overlooked qualities of the night—the way shadows reshape familiar places, the presence of architecture, traces of human activity, artificial light, empty streets, reflections, textures and the atmospheres that emerges after dark. Instead of documenting landmarks, the drawings pay attention to details and fleeting moments that often go unnoticed.

We aim to reframe the night as a space of curiosity, creativity, and imagination, rather than one defined by danger. Each drawing is made collaboratively. The paper is passed back and forth between us with each person responding to and building on the other’s marks. The process allows the drawings to evolve through dialogue rather than the authorship of a single hand.

We work together as 2by2, a collaborative duo whose practice is rooted in working as a pair. we go out together, support one another, and make every drawing collectively. The night walk is both a method of observation and a way of making, with the resulting sketchbooks recording not only the places we encounter but also the ongoing conversation between us.
